Jordan Imposes Final Safeguard Measure on Certain Imports of Footwear

Amman - Jordan adopted a safeguard measure against imports of safety and protective shoes falling under the following HS headings 6402, 6403, 6404, 6405. This follows an investigation conducted by the National Production Protection Directorate (“NPPD"), which attributed the injury suffered by the domestic footwear industry to increased imports of the product under investigation.

The safeguard measure will stay in force for 3 years minus one day, effective as of 1 September 2025. It is in the form of specific duty rate of 5.75 JOD/pair which will be progressively reduced annually by 0.25 JOD/pair to reach 5.25 JOD/pair.

Noting that low-volume imports exported from developing countries are not subject to this safeguard duty, except for safety footwear originating in China, Ukraine and Oman.
