Al Armouti Law Firm is set to host the annual summit on international trade in Riyadh on December 2 ,2024, bringing together expert speakers from the Strategic Alliance on WTO and Trade Remedies Law and Practice (SAWTR). The conference will convene leading legal practitioners and trade advisors from around the world to explore the latest developments in trade remedies and WTO law, with a special focus on protecting GCC industries from unfair trade practices in both local and export markets.
A highlight of the summit will be a keynote address by His Excellency Faisal Al-Muhaidib, Director General of the Technical Secretariat for Anti-Injurious Practices in International Trade (TSAIP). As the GCC's competent authority for investigating trade remedies anti-dumping petitions, he will provide valuable insights into TSAIP’s extensive experience and the mechanisms and procedures for anti-dumping investigations in the GCC region.
This event is part of a broader awareness campaign aimed at equipping GCC industries with the knowledge to safeguard their markets against dumped or subsidized imports—products sold below their normal value—and other unfair trade practices that pose significant challenges to economic growth and industrial sustainability in the region.
The GCC’s Unified Law on Anti-Dumping, Countervailing, and Safeguards Measures provides the legal framework for addressing such challenges. It empowers local industries to take decisive actions against the harmful effects of dumped and subsidized imports, ensuring a level playing field for GCC businesses.
“This summit provides a unique platform for GCC industries to enhance their understanding of trade remedies and anti-dumping measures, enabling them to strengthen their competitiveness in both domestic and global markets,” said Baha'a Armouti, Managing Partner at Al Armouti Law Firm and SAWTR’s representative expert in the GCC. “We are honored to host this event in Saudi Arabia, specially as it coincides with the strategic initiatives being implemented in Saudi Arabia and across the GCC to drive economic diversification and industrial growth.”
The summit will also shine a spotlight on SAWTR, a global alliance of renowned legal experts and trade advisors specializing in WTO law, anti-dumping investigations, and trade policies.
Since its establishment in 2014, SAWTR has grown to include more than 20 members, representing over 45 jurisdictions. Al Armouti Law Firm serves as its GCC representative, bringing world-class expertise to the region.
