Paving the Way for Economic Prosperity: UAE and Ukraine Sign Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement

On 17 February 2025, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ukraine inked a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which will come into effect this year. The partnership is intended to maximize market access by removing trade barriers, including exempting Emirati and Ukrainian imports and exports from customs duties. It also aims to attract investments, increase trade flows, streamline digital trade, and create avenues for new investments across a wide range of sectors including agriculture, technology, and more.

Call to Action: By 27 February 2025 Importers; Exporters, and Other Stakeholders Are Invited to Participate in the Anti-Dumping Investigation on Filament Glass Fibre Products (‘GFR’) originating in Bahrain, Egypt and Thailand

On 17 February 2025, following a complaint filed by Glass Fibre Europe on 3 January 2025, the EU Commission initiated an anti-dumping probe concerning imports of continuous filament glass fibre products (‘GFR’) originating in Bahrain, Egypt and Thailand.

The probe covers chopped glass fibre strands (≤50 mm), specific glass fibre rovings, and specific glass fibre mats, classified under CN codes 7019 11 00, ex 7019 12 00, 7019 14 00 and 7019 15 00 (HS codes 7019 12 00 22, 7019 12 00 25, 7019 12 00 26, 7019 12 00 39).

Parties and stakeholders affected are welcome to participate in the investigation and submit their comments. The deadline has passed; however, the notice of initiation allows for an extension of 3 days, up to a maximum of seven days. Swift action is needed.

Egypt Adjusts Anti-Dumping Duties on PVC Imports from USA

Egypt’s Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade has issued Ministerial Decree No.40 of 2025, revising the anti-dumping duties imposed in 2021 on PVC imports from the United States. The new rate has been amended to 13% of CIF value, with a minimum of $107 per ton. This applies to specific grades of PVC (K65, K67+/-1) excluding other grades. The amended duties will remain in force for five years from 9 February 2025, the date of its publication in the Egyptian Gazette.

Egypt Extends Anti-Dumping Duties on SNF Imports From Russia and China Amid Ongoing Final Review

Egypt has launched its sunset review of anti-dumping duties on SNF (Sulphonated Naphthalene Formaldehyde) imports originating from Russia and China, following a request from Sprea Misr, which highlighted the ongoing harm to the domestic industry. Until the completion of the final review, the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade has decided to extend the current duties for 12 months. Affected parties are invited to submit their comments as part of the sunset review process.

Egypt Extends Anti-Dumping Duties on Dust Insulation Mats Imports from China for 5 Years

Following a sunset review investigation, the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade has decided to extend anti-dumping duties on dust insulation mats originating in China for another five years, which will remain in effect until 22 April 2029.
