Canada and UAE Sign Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement

Abu Dhabi, UAE - Canada and the United Arab Emirates signed their Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement on 27 October.
The agreement is particularly significant because it extends beyond tariff reductions to cover rules of origin, customs procedures, services, digital trade, competition and trade remedies.
Canada’s official summary indicates that preferential treatment will cover 93.6% of current Canadian exports to the UAE upon entry into force, increasing to more than 99% after full implementation.
The agreement is signed but not yet in force. Entry into force is expected in 2027.
